MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
October 25, 1989
The City Engineer reported that it is necessary to run
watermain from Rice Street between the two commercial
buildings to serve the residential area that will be
developed to the east. The Engineer stated that this
is the time to run the watermain to the residential
property, before the parking lot of the commercial
center is blacktopped. The Engineer recommended that
the City have the waterline run at this time and pay
for the cost from the General Fund. when bonds are
issued for the residential road project, the General
Fund could be reimbursed at that time. Estimated cost
is between $7,500 and $8,500.
The City Engineer pointed out that the cost is less
than $10,000, therefore, informal bids can be taken for
the improvement.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 89-10-521 - AUTAORIZING THE CITY
ENGINEER TO PROCEED WITH THE INSTALLATION OF WATERMAIN
FOR TAE BOOSALIS RESIDENTIAL PROJECT AND APPROVING
INTERIM FINANCING OF THE IMPROVEMENT FROM THE GENERAL
FUND OR SEWER AND WATER FUND PENDING BONDING FOR THE
RESIDENTIAL ROAD PROJECT AT WAICH TIME THE GENERAL FUND
OR SEWER AND WATER FUND WOULD BE REIMBURSED
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener.
Ayes (5) Fahey, Blesener, Scalze, LaValle, Collova.
Nays (O).
Resolution declared adopted.
Fahey reported that the drainage for the project has
not been finalized at this time, and the Council has
had some discussion as to whether or not it is
appropriate for the people on Iona Lane to contribute
to the drainage improvement since it appears the water
from Iona Lane dumps into this area. Fahey reported
that when a final recommendation on drainage is made,
there will be a meeting to review it and the Iona Lane
residents will be invited to that meeting.
The City Attorney recommended that the Comprehensive
Plan be amended to reflect the zoning change enacted by
the City this evening.
Page 18
