MINUTES CITY COUNCIL October 25, 1989 Fahey asked if Mr. Campbell raced stock cars for a living. Campbell replied that he did not, however, he did have a car that he dragged raced, however, he also used this car as his everyday vehicle. Fahey asked if there was anyone from the general public present wishing to speak. There was not. Blesener expressed concern that if the accessory garage is approved, Campbell will have approximately 1,260 square feet in garage area. Blesener pointed out that Campbell is requesting a 24 foot by 36 foot garage, which he felt was very large. Blesener felt that the request was for a double Conditional Use Permit in that a second structure is being requested, and the total amount of garage square footage exceeds the Ordinance's 1,000 square foot limitation. Blesener was concerned that the accessory garages being proposed are becoming larqer and larqer. Campbell pointed out that his exisiting garage is only 20 foot by 20 foot. Campbell reported that there are currently three drivers in his family and he has two children who will also be driving in the future. Campbell reported that the accessory garage is needed for storage of a third vehicle as well as for storage of lawn maintenance equipment, bikes, etc. Blesener stated that he did not object to the second garage, however was concerned about the size and felt the 1,000 square footage limitation should be adhered to. The City Planner pointed out that the lot is a large one, thus the impact of the garage will be less. Fahey noted that Campbell does car restoration and asked what is done with the vehicle after it is restored. Campbell reported that he is currently restoring a vehicle that will be used for his own driving purposes. Campbell also reported that he does all his own vehicle maintenance, and the accessory garage would be used for this purpose. Page 3
