MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
November 8, 1989
Masman asked if Mr. Fahey would support the application
if Mr. Amaro was removed as Treasurer.
Fahey stated that he would require a detailed report as
to which individuals are involved in the operation.
Blesener suggested that action on the application be
tabled at this time to give the Lions Club ample time
to present the type of permit application the City is
looking for. Blesener noted that a Class A license,
which is open-ended and would allow bingo and pull tab
sales is not in the best interests of the City.
Collova agreed.
Blesener also thought it in the best interest of the
Lions Club to present an application form listing
officers that have a better image.
LaValle stated that he will not support a Class A
license.
Fahey stated that he would support tabling action on
the application form at this time, but will not support
approval of any application that has Mr. Amaro as
Treasurer. Fahey stated that he is uncomfortable with
Mr. Amaro's association with the proposed gambling
events. Fahey stated that he will not support any
gambling permit application with which Mr. Amaro is
involved.
Masman noted that Mr. Amaro would only serve as
Treasurer, and would not be involved in the gambling.
Fahey stated that he would not support a situation
where Mr. Amaro is handling funds since he is
uncomfortable with such a situation.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 89-11-551 - TABLING ACTION ON THE LIONS
CLUB GAMBLING PERMIT APPLICATION FOR TWO WEEKS TO GIVE
TAE LIONS CLUB AN OPPORTUNITY TO REAPPLY WITH A PROPER
LICENSE APPLICATION
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr.
Collova.
Ayes (5) Blesener, Collova, Scalze, LaValle, Fahey.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
Page 10
