CITY ECOUNCIL
November 8, 1989
Fahey noted that if the low bid is accepted, the
resulting assessment to property owners on Payne Avenue
will be approximately $709 per lot.
The City Engineer reported that the low bidder, Shafer
Contracting, has done work in the City before, and he
recommended acceptance of the low bid.
John Keis, Payne Avenue resident, asked if the low bid
included the work on the north end of Payne Avenue,
plus curbing and overlayment.
The City Engineer replied that the low bid includes all
the work that was outlined in the specifications.
Keis asked the completion date for the project.
Blesener pointed out that the specs call for a start
date of May 1, 1990 and a completion date of June 30,
1990, however, if weather conditions are poor during
that timeframe, the completion date would be extended.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 89-11-550 - ACCEPTING AND AWARDING TIIE
LOW BID RECEIVED FROM SHAFER CONTRACTING CO., INC. IN
THE AMOUNT OF $86,880.00 FOR IMPROVEMENT NO. 88-7,
PAYNE AVENUE RECONSTRUCTION, BASED ON THE
RECOMMENDATION OF THE CITY ENGINEER
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr.
Blesener.
Ayes (5) Fahey, Blesener, Collova, Scalze, LaValle.
Nays (O).
Resolution declared adopted.
GAMBLING Mr. Ray Masman, representing the North Ramsey Lions
PERMIT Club, appeared before the Council requesting approval
APPLICATION of their application for a gambling permit to hold one
N0. RAMSEY gold plate dinner in January or February at the
LIONS CLUB Venetian Inn, and two pancake breakfasts, one in the
Spring and one in the Fall.
Fahey reviewed for the record the letter received from
trie Venetian Inn dated November 7, 1989 regarding the
St. Joseph's Society request to be notified of gambling
permits that are approved at the Venetian Inn site.
Page 8
