GAMBLING Mr. Frank Mastro, UNICO, appeared before the Council LICENSE requesting approval of a gambling license for a gold APPLICATION plate dinner to be held at the Venetian Inn on March UNICO 11, 1990. Mastro also requested that the City waive its 60-day review period. Fahey asked if UNICO has had any gambling license applications denied by the State Charitable Gambling Control Board. Mastro replied that the State has not denied any applications made by UNICO. Mastro reported that UNICO has been in existence since 1940 and holds three fund-raising events each year. It was pointed out that the City has granted similar licenses for UNICO in the past. Aanson reported that City staff is not aware of any problems with this organization. Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 90-1-10 - APPROVING THE GAMBLING LICENSE APPLICATION SUBMITTED BY UNICO TO HOLD A GOLD PLATE DINNER AT THE VENETIAN INN ON SUNDAY, MARCH 11, 1990 AND WAIVING TAE CITY'S 60-DAY REVIEW PERIOD The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Fahey, Scalze, Collova. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. LaValle suggested that the City establish an administration fee for processing gambling license applications. The fee would cover the cost of doing a check with the Sheriff's Department on these applications. LaValle also pointed out that if applications are not submitted to the Council, the Page 12
