MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
February 14, 1990
LITTLE CANADA FIRE DEPARTMENT WILL PAY TAE COSTS OF THE
SYSTEM
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Collova.
Ayes (4) Scalze, Collova, Fahey, LaValle.
Nays (O).
Resolution declared adopted.
CHARITABLE LaValle pointed out that once the City's charitable
GAMBLING gambling trade area is established, the installation
TRADE AREA o£ an Opticon system is the type of project that could
be funded with charitable gambling proceeds.
Fahey reported that he has had some discussion with the
Owasso Residence Volunteer Council and he is tending to
believe that the City's trade area should be
established as the City's geographic limits. It was
noted that this topic is scheduled for discussion at
the March 14th Council meeting.
Fahey reported that he would come up with a proposal
for the definition of trade area prior to the meeting
for everyone to review.
FIRE STATION The City Administrator reported that Boarman &
Associates would like a decision to be made on location
of the Fire Station training room - either on the upper
level or the lower level of the new facility. If the
training room is located on the upper level, there may
be the need for an elevator, which would be an
additional $30,000 cost. However, if the training room
is located on the lower level, the lounge, exercise
room and offices can be located on the upper level
without the need for an elevator.
Council discussed the situation feeling that a
determination needs to be made on whether or not an
elevator is needed if the training room is located on
the upper level. The Fire Chief has indicated that the
Department would prefer the training room on the upper
level, and indicated that the elevator may not be
necessary. It was the concensus of the Council that
the issue should be resolved between the architect,
Fire Department, and City Building Inspector, and that
the training room should be located on the upper floor
if the cost of an elevator can be avoided.
Page 20
