MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />May 9, 1990 <br />Morelan reported that he has seasonal employees who <br />might work 10 hours per week flooding skating rinks, <br />and felt the requirement to advertise for these <br />positions would be cumbersome. Morelan reported that <br />he usually fills these positions with individuals who <br />have come through the City's recreation program or who <br />have done some volunteering within the program. <br />Council discussed Morelan's concerns and felt it would <br />be cumbersome to require advertising for seasonal <br />positions requiring less than 20 hours per week and it <br />was the concensus of the Council that the suggested <br />hiring policy be amended accordingly. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 90-5-244 - ADOPTING THE HIRING POLICY <br />FOR THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA AS SET FORTH IN THE CITY <br />ADMINISTRATOR'S LETTER DATED MAY 4, 1990 WITH <br />MODIFICATION OF THE SECTION PERTAINING TO SEASONAL <br />EMPLOYEE OPENINGS OF LESS THAN 20 HOURS PER WEEK <br />ALLOWING THOSE POSITIONS TO BE FILLED AT THE DISCRETION <br />OF THE DEPARTMENT HEAD WITHOUT THE REQUIREMENT FOR <br />ADVERTISEMENT <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, LaValle, Scalze, Collova, Blesener. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 90-5-245 - AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />ADMINISTRATOR TO ADVERTISE FOR A REPLACEMENT FOR DAWN <br />KOHLER <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Scalze, Collova, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />HENNESSEY Mr. Ward Morgan appeared before the Council and <br />CUP FOR DAY expressed disappointment in the Council's denial of <br />CARE CENTER a conditional use permit to allow Anne Hennessey to <br />conduct a day care center for 14 children at 101 <br />Yorkton Ridge. Morgan reported that his family uses <br />the center the decision effects him since he has two <br />Page 19 <br />
