MINUTES
WORKSHOP MEETING
May 9, 1990
developer to be out-of-line. Fahey felt it difficult
enough for the small businessman, and if other cities
are allowing multiple pylons, Fahey stated that he had
a problem denyinq the request.
DeLonais pointed out that Rapid Oil could put their
name on the sides of their building rather than install
a separate pylon.
Pedersen stated that the issue is what the Council and
Planning Commission wants Little Canada to look like.
Pedersen asked if the City wanted to follow the pattern
that was started in Ryan Industrial Park. Pedersen
pointed out that the development along Rice Street
shows no planning or consistency.
Blesener pointed out that there is the potential for
redevelopment along Rice Street.
Fahey stated that he did not want the City to get the
reputation of being hard on business which would result
in no businesses wishing to locate within the City.
Pedersen pointed out that other cities have been
successful at imposing restrictions that give their
cities some class and still attract businesses.
Collova did not feel the City would attract the same
type of businesses that surrounding, larger cities can
attract. Collova did not feel the City should be
overly restrictive and agreed that there is the
potential for redevelopment along Rice Street.
Blesener agreed that the City should not be overly
restrictive, but did not feel the City should bend to
every developer. Blesener stated that there was a need
for consistency.
Costa asked if Boosalis sold the buildings at the Rice
At C Center separately if the individual buildings
would all be entitled to separate pylons.
Scalze stated that the buildings could not be sold
separately pointing out that they share ingress,
egress, trash facilities, etc.
Fahey stated that individual owners would be able to
enter into easement agreements to share these
facilities.
Page 4
