MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 25, 1990
TRANSFER OF
LIQUOR
LICENSE -
MGM
DeBace reported that he had first looked at the
possibility of developing duplexes along DeSoto,
however, felt that single-family homes would be better
for the area.
Scalze pointed out that the property is not zoned for
duplexes, but rather sinqle-family development.
Blesener pointed out that the lot sizes proposed are
more beneficial to the City than larger lots.
Fahey pointed out that previous concern about lots
sizes was raised in the Gervais Lake and Dianna Lane
neighborhoods. Fahey pointed out that the area under
consideration this evening is developed with older
homes and smaller lots.
Costa asked if it were possible to change the name of
DeSoto Street to Costa Street in honor of his family
who has owned the property for many years.
The City Administration suggested that staff study the
issue of renaminq the street.
Council requested that the Administrator's
recommendation on the assessment issue be ready for the
Council's review prior to the August 22nd public
hearing on the Costa Estates preliminary plat.
Council reviewed the application for transfer of MGM
Liquor Warehouse off-sale liquor license to Canterbury
Investments.
The Administrator reported that the transfer involves a
stock transfer between existing shareholders.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 90-7-348 - APPROVING THE TRANSFER OF THE
OFF-SALE LIQUOR LICENSE FROM MGM LIQUOR WAREHOUSE TO
CANTERBURY INVESTMENTS SUBJECT TO RECEIPT OF
SATISFACTORY SHERIFF'S REPORTS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener.
Ayes (5).Scalze, Blesener, Fahey, Collova, LaValle.
Nays (o).
Resolution declared adopted.
Page 20
