MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 8, 1990
Paul Kaufman reported that landscaping will be done
once the building addition is completed. Kaufman
pointed out that Slumberland has a letter of credit on
file with the City to cover the cost of the
landscaping.
A resident of the area asked how Slumberland was
permitted to build if they did not have sufficient
water.
The City Engineer reported that Slumberland is
connected to an 8-inch watermain in Centerville Road,
and that is sufficient for their existing building.
Aowever, the additional watermain is needed to service
the sprinkler system planned for the Slumberland
addition.
Milan Moravetz, resident of the area, asked if the
watermain improvement is denied, if landscaping of the
Slumberland site would be completed.
Scalze pointed out that without the watermain
improvement to serve the sprinkler system for the new
addition, the addition cannot be built.
Fahey stated that he did not see the watermain
improvement being denied if Slumberland agreed to pay
for it. Fahey also pointed out that the City has a
letter of credit on file that will ensure the
landscaping improvements are completed.
Moravetz asked where the landscaping would go.
Paul Kaufman replied that that has not been determined
at this point, and it was suggested that once
construction of the addition is completed, Slumberland
hold a neighborhood meeting to obtain input for
landscaping locations.
A resident of the area asked the effect of an easement
on property.
Fahey replied that an easement would give the City
access to property for installing and maintaining the
watermain. It was pointed out that the property owner
would not be able to build on top of an easement,
however, in this particular instance, the easement
would fall within required set-backs, which cannot be
built upon.
Page 6
