MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 22, 1990
Judy Michaud, 485 Allen Avenue, stated that she
objected to the proposal. Michaud reported that Allen
Avenue is a quiet area, and felt that the improvement
of DeSoto Avenue and Noel Drive would be too many
intersecting streets in a short distance on Allen.
Michaud reported that she lives directly across the
street from where Noel Drive would come through.
Michaud reported that she moved into the area because
it was quiet, and she felt a safe neighborhood for her
children.
A property owner in the area asked how the project
would effect Vanderbie, asking if watermain and curb
and gutter would be improved on that street.
Costa replied that if he wants to sell lots on
Vanderbie, it would be necessary to have City water,
and he would initiate a request for watermain and curb
and gutter.
DeBace reported that such a request is not a part of
this plat.
Fahey reported that if watermain and curb and gutter
improvements are made on Vanderbie, the benefiting
property owners would be assessed. Fahey stated that
the City could not approve this kind of development and
allow the homes to be served by wells.
A resident asked if access to the park would be
provided.
Scalze reported that there has been discussion for a
walkway easement to the park. The City Planner has
suggested an east/west cross street through to DeSoto.
Michael Peyer, 2900 Vanderbie, reported that he was not
mailed a notice of this public hearing.
Larry Hartman, 466 Allen Avenue, reported that there
are three houses south of Allen on DeSoto, and asked if
the road in front of these homes would be widened as a
result of the extension of DeSoto.
DeBace replied that he understands that there is
adequate road right-of-way in this area.
Scalze pointed out that curb and gutter may be added.
Hartman asked about the comments regarding additional
catch basins.
Page 8
