MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
AUGUST 30, 1990
ratinq of 49 may not be necessary and asked for further
analysis and options. Blesener asked staff to find out
what the STC rating is for the operable wall in White
Bear Lake's city hall.
The Administrator reported that the Council would be
provided with additional options to review in making
the decision on whether to divide the conference rooms
from the Council Chambers either by solid wall or
operable wall.
Therefore, it was recommended that awarding of the bid
for Operable Wall be withheld at this time.
Beckwith continued with his review of City Hall
remodeling bids.
Mechanical - It was recommended that the awarding
of bids for this section be withheld at this time
since bid results need to be reviewed for compliance
with all sections of the specifications. Again, as
in the bids for the Fire Station, there were two
complete mechanical bids received, and several
partial bids. The partial bids need to be reviewed
to determine if they make a complete bid.
Fire Protection - It was recommended that no award
of bid for this section be made at this time.
Further review is necessary since mechanical
contractors have included the sprinkler system in
their proposals.
The Administrator pointed out that the preliminary
budget for the City Center remodeling was established
at $500,000. Based on the bids received, the total
project budget is $538,521, which includes $30,000 for
furniture and fixtures and phone system. This budget
also includes the operable wall. The Administrator
commented that at some point the City Center parking
lot will need to be redone, and there are no funds
budgeted for this improvement.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 90-8-402 - ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS
OF THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGER FOR AWARDING, WITHHOLDING,
OR REJECTING BIDS FOR THE CITY CENTER REMODELING
PROJECT AS PRESENTED IN HIS REPORT DATED AUGUST 30,
1990 SUBJECT TO REMOVAL OF THE INDEMNIFICATION CLAUSE
Page 6
