MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 30, 1990
Dick Boss pointed out the rental hall across the street
from the Fire Station suggesting that the City would
not want to go into competition with that hall, and
also pointing out the inadequate parking at the Fire
Station.
Fahey suggested that the Fire Department review the
matter and give the Council a recommendation by the
second meeting in November as to use of the basement
facilities by the Fire Department as well as the Fire
Department's scheduling of these facilities. Fahey
suggested that at its next meeting, the Council pass a
resolution declaring the intention of the City to
retain the building based on the input received from
City organizations regarding their interest in using
the building.
Blesener instructed Public Works to submit a letter
outlining their possible uses of the building.
Dick Boss pointed out the possibility of using the fire
station by a Health One unit.
Blesener suggested that after the Fire Department has
come back with their recommendation, a small committee
be put together to look at defining uses.
Fahey agreed that after the Fire Department has made
their recommendation, the City should go back to the
various organizations for a more defined plan.
Council also discussed the need for additional parking
at the Fire Station suggesting that the City should
look into the possibilities for additional parking,
such as relocation of the pleasure rink.
COST SAVINGS Fahey reviewed the City Administrator's report dated
MEASURES October 26, 1990 regarding cost-savings measures
outlining those measures which have already been put in
place by City staff. Fahey went on to review the
suggestions of the Administrator outlining additional
areas that need further evaluation, which may result in
cost-savings to the City.
Council noted that designation of the City's official
newspaper will come up for consideration in January,
and it was the consensus of the Council that serious
consideration should be given to competitive bids from
newspapers which deliver to all residences within the
City.
Page 5
