MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 24, 1991
The City Administrator informed the viewing audience
that the City is compiling a list of people interested
in occupancy of the senior building. If interest,
please call City Hall to be placed on the list. This
list will then be forwarded to the developer at the
time the project is ready for occupancy. The
Administrator also reported that a similar notice has
been placed in the next City newsletter.
RECESS At this point in the meeting, 9:05 P.M., the Council
took a short recess. The meeting was reconvened at
9:15 P.M.
PAWN SHOP Scalze opened the public hearing to consider an
ORDINANCE amendment to the Zoning Ordinance by adding pawnbrokers
and secondhand goods dealers as permitted uses in the
B-3, General Business District.
The City Planner reported that the purpose of the
Ordinance is to define in which Zoning District pawn
shops are allowed. The way the Ordinance is currently
written it could be construed that pawn shops are
allowed in all zoning districts. This amendment limits
them to the B-3 District.
Scalze pointed out that this Ordinance, as well as one
previously passed provide for regulation of pawn shops
within the City. Scalze also pointed out that the
Planning Commission has recommended approval of the
Ordinance.
There was no one present wishing to comment on this
matter.
Upon motion by Blesener, seconded by LaValle, the
public hearing was closed.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following ordinance and
moved its adoption:
ORDINANCE NO. 347 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 912
OF THE LITTLE CANADA CITY CODE KNOWN AS THE ZONING
ORDINANCE~ BY ADDING PAWNBROKERS AND SECONDHAND GOODS
DEALERS AS PERMITTED USES IN THE B-3, GENERAL BUSINESS
DISTRICT
The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Collova.
Ayes (4) Blesener, Collova, Scalze, LaValle.
Nays (0).
Ordinance declared adopted.
Page 16
