MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 28, 1991 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, Blesener, Collova, Hanson, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />EMERGENCY The City Administrator reviewed the recommendation <br />5ERVICES of the Fire Chief and Dick Boss for appointment of <br />DIRECTOR Don Smiley as the City's Emergency Services Director. <br />The recommendation was made based on their opinion that <br />the Director should be someone from the community and <br />their feeling that it was to the City's advantage to <br />have the Director a member of the Fire Department from <br />a coordination standpoint. The Fire Chief has <br />indicated that if a catastrophic event occurs, the <br />Director would be freed from his duties with the Fire <br />Department. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 91-8-298 - APPOINTING DONALD SMILEY AS <br />THE CITY'S EMERGENCY SERVICES DIRECTOR AT A RATE OF <br />COMPENSATION OF $100 PER MONTH <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Collova, Hanson, Blesener. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted, <br />OLD FIRE The City Administrator reported that he is obtaining <br />STATION additional information on potential Code violations and <br />cost estimates for correction at the old fire station. <br />Therefore, the Administrator recommended that a <br />decision on the use of that building be tabled until <br />this information is available. <br />LANDSCAPE Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and <br />BIDS FOR moved its adoption: <br />CITY HALL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 91-8-299 - AUTHORIZING THE ADVERTISEMENT <br />FOR BIDS FOR LANDSCAPING AT THE CITY CENTER <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Collova, Scalze, Hanson. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />GAMBLING It was the consensus of the Council that staff schedule <br />TOUR a visit with the City of Minneapolis to review their <br />Page 12 <br />
