MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
SEPTEMBER 11, 1991
WESTMINSTER Chris Mayr, Westminster Corporation, appeared before
the Council to explain the efforts of his firm in
providing low income, affordable housing and human
services to those in need. Mayr noted the City~s past
relationship with his firm, which was previously called
Community Development Corporation, in the development
of the Garden Terrace senior citizen apartment complex.
Mayr reported that Westminster is currently serving
4,500 people, and their goal is to serve another 10,000
individuals. Mayr asked for the City's assistance in
spreading the Westminster success story.
EXERCISE Tim Kane, Little Canada Fire Department, requested
EQUIPMENT approval of the purchase of exercise equipment for the
Fire Department. Kane reported that quotes have been
obtained for this equipment, the low quote coming from
the firm, Push-Pedal-Pull. Kane noted that the funding
for this purchase has been donated.
LaValle reported that money was donated to the City for
purchase of exercise equipment, furnishings and
appliances for the new Fire Station. LaValle suggested
that the City Administrator determine the remaining
balance of funds from this donation. LaValle pointed
out that the expenditure for exercise equipment must be
within the confines of the donation balance.
The Council asked about the other quotes obtained, and
suggested that copies of these quotes be submitted to
the City Administrator for review so he can ensure that
proper procedures have been followed.
Scalze asked if the quoted prices included
installation.
Kane replied that the quotes included installation and
training in the proper use of the equipment.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 91-9-307 - AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
FITNESS EQUIPMENT FOR THE NEW FIRE STATION WITA THE
STIPULATION THAT THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR REVIEW THE
QUOTES RECEIVED TO ENSURE THAT THEY MEET REQUIREMENTS
OF THE CITY AND CONTINGENT ON THE AMOUNT OF THE LOW
QUOTE FALLING WITHIN THE REMAINING MONIES THAT WERE
DONATED FOR THIS EXPENDITURE, IF NOT, THE AMOUNT OF
EQUIPMENT TO BE PURCHASED SAOULD BE DECREASED
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Hanson, Collova, Scalze.
Nays (0).
