MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
OCTOBER 23, 1991
Blesener pointed out that the problem is the poor
experience that the City has had with auto repair
businesses. Blesener felt that if this auto repair
were allowed to remain in the I-P District, the City
would lose control in the District.
Hanson asked what permitted uses are allowed in the I-P
District so that the property owner knows what type of
business he can rent to.
It was suggested that Mr. Meron contact the City
Planner to discuss the allowed uses in the I-P
District.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 91-10-354 - DENYING THE APPLICATION FOR
TEXT AMENDMENT TO ALLOW THE CONTINUED USE OF PROPERTY
AT 2884 CENTERVILLE ROAD FOR AUTOMOBILE REPAIR IN THE
I-P DISTRICT, WITH THE STIPULATION THAT SPECTRUM AUTO
BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN IN THEIR PRESENT LOCATION UNTIL
THE END OF THEIR CURRENT LEASE, WHICH IS AUGUST 1,
1992, SUBJECT TO SUBMISSION OF A COPY OF TAE LEASE
DOCUMENT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Scalze, Collova, Hanson.
Nays (o).
Resolution declared adopted.
PURCHASE OF Fire Chief, Frank Graczyk, reported that the Little
NEW FIRE Canada Fire Department has entered into a purchase
TRUCK aqreement for a new fire truck with Pierce
Manufacturinq in Appleton, Wisconsin. This new vehicle
will replace the Department's 22 year old pumper truck.
The new vehicle is a combination pumper/ladder truck
that can be used in the event there is a fire in one of
the City's apartment buildings. The Fire Chief
reported that with its current equipment the Fire
Department cannot reach the third story of apartment
buildings in the City. A recent example is the fire at
the Grand Pre' apartment complex. The Fire Chief
reported that the Department does have access to ladder
trucks through its mutual aid agreement with other
cities, however, the Department feels the equipment is
needed for first-responding vehicles.
The Fire Chief explained that the new truck will meet
1992 NFPA standards.
The Department had looked into refurbishing existing
equipment, however, found it to be very expensive.
Page 6
