George also pointed out that
at previous meetings the estimate was $500 per lot.
The City Administrator reported that previous estimates
were only estimates subject to actual bids. The City
received a wide range of bids, with the low bid at
$88,655 and the high bid approximately $150,000. The
Administrator also reported that the numbers changed
from $606.02 per lot to $622.85 per lot since two
properties were erroneously included in the assessment
roll. Therefore, rather than having 74 lots to divide
the project costs between, there are 72 lots.
The City Administrator reported that once the
assessment is adopted, property owners will receive a
notice of final assessment. The Administrator
explained that according to State Statute, property
owners have 30 days from the date of adoption of the
assessment to pay it in full without interest.
