MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 27, 1991
role of the Park Commission to Park & Recreation
Commission. The committee discussed the fact that the
Commission is open to input from citizens-at-large,
where one needs to be a member of the LCRA in order to
have input to that group.
Slesener suggested that the Park Commission discuss the
possibility of expansion of their group to Park &
Recreation Commission.
Wehrle agreed that the Park Commission represents the
City at-large versus the LCRA being a membership group.
Aowever, Wehrle felt that the two groups could work
together, and he did not see them competing.
Scalze agreed that the groups could work together, and
pointed out that the Council is open to input from any
interested parties.
LaValle commented on the recommendation that part-time
Public Works and Parks salaries be comparable.
Scalze pointed out that with Public Works taking over
the parks maintenance function, this should become
automatic.
Blesener pointed out that the Council has previously
set a salary range for part-time help, and that the
salary range increased based on number of years in the
position.
Blesener agreed that the committee should met with
Roseville to discuss the option of contracting with
them for recreation services.
Scalze suggested that anyone else interested in
attending that meeting should feel free to do so.
It was suggested that the Council adopt the
recommendations of the recreation committee with the
exception of recreation fees which need to be
fine-tuned and pending a recommendation from the Parks
Commission on the issue of expanding their advisory
roll to Parks & Recreation Commission.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 91-11-406 - ACCEPTING THE
RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE RECREATION COMMITTEE AS
OUTLINED IN THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR'S LETTER OF NOVEMBER
21, 1991 SUBJECT TO A RECOMMENDATION FROM THE PARKS
COMMISSION ON THE ISSUE OF THEIR EXPANDED ROLE AND
Page 13
