LIQUOR Council reviewed the application submitted by Midwest
LICENSE Sports Events for a temporary liquor license in
MIDWEST conjunction with a softball-on-ice tournament they
SPORTS EVENTS plan to conduct on Gervais Lake on February 15 and 16,
1992. It was noted that alcohol sales would occur at
the Gervais Beach area.
5calze stated that she did not support the issuance of
a temporary liquor license for the Gervais Beach area
since that area is surrounded entirely by residential
development. Scalze questioned how policing would
occur.
Blesener pointed out that the City has never issued a
temporary liquor license for an event held on land that
was not owned by the applicant, or for a function that
did not occur on City-owned land.
The City Administrator pointed out that the Council
will face this issue in considering the operation of
the Pioneer Park concession stand.
Scalze indicated that this issue has already been
discussed, that it was felt that the Pioneer Park
concession stand would not be suitable for use for sale
of alcohol during weekend tournaments for groups other
Page 4
