MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 22, 1992 <br />The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, Blesener, Collova, Hanson, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). <br />Ordinance declared adopted. <br />SUBDIVISION It was noted that City staff is recommending that the <br />ORDINANCE Subdivision Ordinance be amended to extend the time <br />AMENDMENT period for filing and recording of final plat approval <br />from 100 days to six months. The Planning Commission <br />has recommended approval of the amendment. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following ordinance and <br />moved its adoption: <br />ORDINANCE NO. 354 - AMENDING CHAPTER 1000 OF THE LITTLE <br />CANADA CITY CODE KNOWN AS THE SUBDIVISION ORDINANCE BY <br />EXTENDING THE DEADLINE FOR RECORDING FINAL PLATS <br />The foregoing ordinance was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, Scalze, Collova, LaValle, Hanson. <br />Nays (0). <br />Ordinance declared adopted. <br />TREE CITY & Bill Sanders, Park Consultant, appeared before the <br />AMERICA THE Council to discuss park grants. Sanders reported <br />BEAUTIFUL that the State recently closed out the Outdoor <br />GRANT Recreation Grant for Pioneer Park, and the City <br />APPLICATIONS received a$40,000 check from the State for that <br />program. This past fall the City received approval of <br />a$5,000 SBA grant for tree planting, and the City <br />should be receiving that money within the next couple <br />of months. <br />Sanders reported that when the City applied for the SBA <br />grant, the State suggested that it apply to the Tree <br />City USA grant program as well. Sanders reported that <br />there are several grant programs that use the criteria <br />of the Tree City USA program for approval, so applying <br />to this program would be in the City's best interests. <br />There is no cost involved in applying, and Sanders <br />believed that the City met the criteria established for <br />the grant. That criteria is that the City has a tree <br />board. The City's Park Commission can function as that <br />board. The City must have a community tree ordinance, <br />which it does. The City must have a community forestry <br />proqram with an annual budget of $2 per capita for tree <br />expenditures. Sanders reported that the City has met <br />this criteria for the past several years, and should be <br />able to continue to meet this requirement. The last <br />criteria is that the City have an Arbor Day observance <br />and proclamation. Sanders presented the Mayor with an <br />Page 3 <br />
