MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />FEBRUARY 26, 1992 <br />Blomberg agreed it would be very helpful to have such a <br />list. <br />The City Attorney reported that in reviewing the <br />application file, he saw no reason for the Council not <br />to approve renewal of the premise permits. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92-2-80 - APPROVING RENEWAL OF PREMISE <br />PERMITS FOR ST. JOSEPA'S SOCIETY FOR CHARITY FOR BINGO <br />AND PULL TABS AT THE LITTLE CANADA BINGO HALL, AND FOR <br />PULL-TAB SITES AT GORDIES' PLACE AND THE VENETIAN INN <br />SUBJECT TO A REVIEW OF THESE OPERATIONS BY THE CITY <br />COUNCIL IN ONE YEAR AND CONTINGENT UPON RECEIPT OF <br />SATISFACTORY POLICE REPORTS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (4) LaValle, Blesener, Scalze, Collova. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />BINGO HALL Scalze reported that she has been contacted regarding <br />SECURITY the subject of security at the binqo hall, and has been <br />told that this is not an expense allowed by the State <br />Gambling Control Board. <br />Betty Strohbeen, Gambling Manager, Lake Owasso <br />Residence Volunteer Council, reported that the State is <br />now allowinq security as a lawful expense. <br />Scalze pointed out that when the City first approved <br />the PUD for the bingo hall, one of the conditions of <br />approval was security. Scalze reported that it was her <br />understanding at the time that security was to be <br />provided by off-duty Ramsey County sheriffs. Scalze <br />thought it was the Council's intent that there be armed <br />security at the bingo hall. Scalze pointed out that <br />the sheriffs no longer provide seourity services, and <br />at this point security at the bingo hall is not armed. <br />Scalze asked if the City wanted to amend the PUD to <br />take the requirement of security off, or should the <br />City require armed security, or was there another <br />position that the Council felt should be taken. <br />Blomberg reported that in the beginning the Counoil <br />required armed security, however, the main purpose of <br />the security was for traffic control. Blomberg <br />reported that the sheriffs were pulled out in April or <br />May of 1987, and at that time a armed security service <br />was hired.
