MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MARCH 25, 1992
required to put out a lot of information to the public
on the precinct changes. These changes will not apply
to the April primary, but rather the September primary
and November general election.
The Administrator again outlined the reasons for the
change, those being the redistricting approved by the
State Legislature which split the City into two House
and Senate Districts, and the need to balance voting
population between the precincts to keep the numbers
manageable.
Scalze noted that with the two districts, there will be
a difference in candidates on the ballots.
Council and the Administrator discussed and agreed that
the situation will be confusing even though the City
will notify residents and publicize the precinct
changes. The changes also result in more cost to the
City since an additional voting machine, voting booths
and election judges will be necessary.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-3-104 - APPROVING THE PRECINCT
CHANGES AS RECOMMENDED BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR AND
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ADDITIONAL VOTING MACHINE
AND VOTING BOOTHS, AS THE ADMINISTRATOR DETERMINES
NECESSARY
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Collova.
Ayes (5) Blesener, Collova, LaValle, Hanson, Scalze.
Nays (o).
Resolution declared adopted.
WATERMAIN The City Administrator reported that the City has
PETITION received a petition for the improvement of watermain
EDGERTON along Edgerton Street between Little Canada Road and
STREET LaBore Road. The Administrator reported that he has
BETWEEN not had a chance to review the petition for adequacy,
LITTLE noting that it must be signed by property owners
CANADA RD. controlling 350 of the property involved.
& LABORE RD.
Hanson noted that cost of the improvement for this
small area might be prohibitive if the project is not
combined with another area to make it a larger project.
The City Administrator reported that he has discussed
this with the City Engineer who recommends that the
City look at a watermain improvement on Edgerton all
Page 11
