MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />March 25, 1992 <br />INSPECTIONS Graczyk reported that he has three fire fighters <br />currently completing schoolinq in order to assist the <br />Building Inspector in doing fire inspections. Once <br />this schooling is completed, Graczyk suggested that he <br />sit down with the Building Inspector to establish a <br />plan for the inspections. <br />Blesener pointed out that building activity is down and <br />the Building Inspector may have more time to do the <br />fire inspections. Scalze agreed. <br />Graczyk pointed out that these fire inspections are way <br />past due. <br />The Administrator reported that there is also the need <br />for more code enforcement to be done. The <br />Administrator suggested that before the fire fighters <br />beqin fire inspections, the process and procedures must <br />be set up. <br />Blesener suggested that the Administrator sit down with <br />the Building Inspector and work out the details. <br />SMOKE ALARMS Graczyk updated the Council on the Fire Department's <br />smoke alarm program reporting that the Department will <br />be working in the northeast part of the City as well as <br />the North Star Estates Mobilehome Park next Monday <br />installing smoke detectors. The Department has <br />purchased an additional 100 smoke detectors with <br />gambling revenue. The smoke detectors are <br />battery-operated and the fire fighters canvass the City <br />offering the smoke detectors to those homes that do not <br />have them, and will install the detectors, if <br />necessary, at no cost to the homeowner. <br />CAPITAL Graczyk reported that the Department has ordered the <br />IMPROVEMENTS PASS equipment as well as SCBA masks. The Department <br />is currently evaluating the hose needs. <br />Boss reported that the City of Minneapolis is placing a <br />large order for hose. If the City joins in on that <br />order, it should be able to get a good price. <br />PHYSICALS & Graczyk reported on the need for Aepatitis B <br />VACCINATIONS vaccinations for each fire fighter at an estimated cost <br />of $150 per vaccination. Graczyk reported that he is <br />working with the Fire Chiefs' Association in evaluating <br />various options for these vaccinations as well as <br />physicals for each of the fire fighters. <br />Page 6 <br />
