MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 22, 1992 <br />involved in the decision-making process. The <br />Administrator reported that the Sheriff's Department <br />has indicated that no decisions have been made at this <br />point and only initial discussion as to whether the <br />proposal is feasible is takinq place. However, the <br />Administrator pointed out that the various groups want <br />to be assured that they will be involved in the <br />process, which the Administrator thought would happen <br />irrespective of this action. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92-4-142 - INFORMING THE I2AMSEY COUNTY <br />COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA'S DESIRE TO <br />ENCOURAGE THE PARTICIPATION OF FIRE DEPARTMENT <br />REPRESENTATIVES IN CONSOLIDATION DISCUSSIONS INVOLVING <br />DISPATCHING SERVICES <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (5) Scalze, Blesener, Collova, Aanson, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />ECONOMIC The Mayor pointed out that the St. Jude development <br />DEVELOPMENT proposal as well as the Presbyterian Homes proposal for <br />senior housing complex in the area of economic <br />development. <br />The City Administrator reported that with regard to the <br />senior housing proposal, the process undertaken for <br />this project is a slow one, and the biq issue to be <br />resolved is what the market really is for these units. <br />There are also some issues regardinq eligibility that <br />need to be resolved with regard to income levels and <br />property tax payments. Presbyterian Homes is working <br />on these issues as well as tryinq to assemble the <br />property and get the necessary appraisals done. The <br />Administrator reported that senior housing is a tough <br />project to put together, and Presbyterian Aomes is <br />working to ensure a successful project. <br />The Administrator reported that there are currently <br />over 250 names on the list of individuals interested in <br />units within the senior project. This list has been <br />given to Presbyterian Homes, who will be sending out a <br />mailing updating the seniors on the status of the <br />project. <br />Hanson reported that the Burger King in Little Canada <br />recently closed. <br />Page 17 <br />
