MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 13, 1992
McBride stated that the Building Inspector has not
tried to help him. McBride reported that he requested
that the Building Inspector attend tonight's meeting,
and he indicated that he does not attend Council
meetings. McBride reported that he has asked the
Building Inspector just what needs to be done to bring
the structure up to standard.
McBride reported that he is a State-licensed general
contractor and has been in business for 30 years. He
knows the building codes, as well as every aspect of
the structure at 34 Little Canada Road, and what is
needed to bring the structure up to standard.
McBride reported that the Building Inspector has
requested additional blueprints. McBride reported that
he has already given the Inspector two complete sets,
and both were rejected by the Inspector. McBride
reported that he has tried to do everything possible in
the best interests of the City. McBride reported that
he does not intend to remodel the structure, but rather
bring it up to minimum standards. McBride felt that
this could be done for $4,400, and he has bids to
substantiate it. McBride reported that Mr. Marshall is
a concrete contractor and will do the footinq and
concrete work. McBride felt that the property owner
should not be denied an opportunity to bring the
structure up to present standards.
McBride reported that Marshall resides in Texas durinq
the winter months, and would like to use the structure
for a summer home.
McBride reported that he has done everything that is
required, is licensed and bonded by the State, and
feels a building permit should be issued for the
improvements.
The City Administrator reported that Messrs. Marshall
and McBride met with the Building Inspector yesterday
at 9:30 A.M. and asked if he would attend the meeting.
The Administrator reported that he already had a
meeting scheduled with the City Engineer for 10:15
A.M., and he needed to prepare for that meeting,
therefore, could not attend. The Administrator
reported that he would be happy to meet with Marshall
and McBride with some advance notice.
As far as the comments that everything the City has
asked for has been done, the Administrator pointed out
that the entire matter surfaced when work was begun on
the structure at 34 Little Canada Road without a
building permit and in violation of Code.
