MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MAY 27, 1992 but aqain indicated that a long-term solution is needed. The Director felt that the City is not near to the capacity that Pioneer Park should be run at. The Director felt that additional parking should be put in place prior to Spring of 1993. Hanson asked if the soccer field area could be used for additional parking. The Director pointed out that there is an underground irrigation system in this area that would be damaged by vehicle traffic. The Director commented that it will be necessary for the City to request Ramsey County to post Centerville Road as no parking. Hanson asked if the long-range plan for additional parkinq included locating it on the south side of the park. The Director replied that he will be researching long-term solutions, and discussing parking with other cities. The Director pointed out that the Park Commission discussed at length the location of parking for Pioneer Park when the park plan was being developed. The idea of parking on the south side of the park was rejected for security reasons. The Commission felt that parking on the south would be not be visible enough. Meyers Frattalone stated that patrol cars have to drive into the parking lots in order to patrol adequately. The Director reported that the Park Commission felt that parking was better located so that it is visible from the road. Collova suggested that the Director's notice to the adult leagues encourage car pooling. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 92-5-180 - INSTRUCTING PUBLIC WORKS TO REQUEST TAAT RAMSEY COUNTY POST BOTH TAE EAST AND WEST SIDES OF CENTERVILLE ROAD AS NO PARKING The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Collova, Hanson, Scalze. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. Frattalone asked about a cross-walk to the park entrance as well as signage for the park. Page 17
