MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 27, 1992
It was noted that park directional signs have been
ordered and should be delivered within the next couple
of weeks.
Hanson pointed out that DeSOto Street was widened to
the west to accommodate parking. Hanson asked if the
street will be striped to show the additional width on
the west side.
The City Administrator replied that typically the^City
does not line residential streets.
The City Engineer pointed out that the additional width
on Desoto was installed to accommodate parking on the
west side of the street for special occasions or events
in Pioneer Park.
Mr. Blesener introduoed the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-5-181 - INSTRUCTING PUBLIC WORKS TO
COVER THE NO PARKING SIGNS ON THE WEST SIDE OF DESOTO
STREET AND TO UNCOVER THE NO PARKING SIGNS ON THE EAST
SIDE OF DESOTO
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5). Blesener, LaValle, Collova, Hanson, Scalze.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
LaValle asked if the park signage that has been ordered
is large enough to easily identify the park location.
The Director replied that the signage that has been
ordered are directional signs, and not the full-sized
park identification sign. It is the Park Commission's
intent to order the identification sign next year.
Scalze pointed out that the Spectrum Auto temporary
sign hides the entrance driveway to Pioneer Park.
Frattalone reported that Spectrum Auto has moved from
the Quality Asphalt b~ilding. Frattalone also
expressed concern about noise from people using the
Pioneer Park parking lot to race model cars.
It was suggested that parking problems might be
alleviated by moving the later adult games back an
additional 15 minutes.
The Director pointed out that during most of the season
this would not be feasible since the teams would run
into a darkness problem.
Page.18
