MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 27, 1992
Burrow described the internal road system and pointed
out future ability to wrap the road around and add
additional parking. A future expansion of 30,000
square feet is planned for the site, and parking will
need to be reassessed at the time of expansion.
Burrow reported that the question of the existing house
and garage was discussed at the Planning Commission
meeting. St. Jude has had preliminary discussion about
retention of the house for a conference/retreat center.
However, St. Jude has not inspected the house to
determine if this is feasible. St. Jude would like to
keep that possibility open for future consideration.
Burrow reported that since the initial proposal, he has
walked the site with the Watershed and Barr
Engineering. As a result, the Watershed has decreased
the amount of wetland area that must be maintained.
Initially their recommendation was to retain just under
3 acres in wetland area. That has been decreased to
.44 acres. Burrow explained that run-off from the site
will be directed into the wetland area which then flows
to the west and under the railroad tracks.
There was no one from the general public present
wishing to comment on this matter.
Blesener asked St. Jude's reaction to the Planner's
recommendation for a four-lane access drive.
Burrow replied that St. Jude feels this recommendation
is a good one.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-5-170 - APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE
FINAL STAGE PUD APPROVAL GRANTED TO ST. JUDE MEDICAL IN
APRIL FOR THEIR DEVELOPMENT OF THE SITE AT 177 EAST
COUNTY ROAD B SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE WITA THE
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE CITY PLANNER AS OUTLINED IN HIS
REPORT DATED MAY 27, 1992 AND SUBJECT TO COMPLIANCE
WITH THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION THAT
THE EXISTING HOUSE AND GARAGE BE REMOVED AT THE TIME OF
ISSUANCE OF THE OCCUPANCY PERMIT FOR THE ST. JUDE
FACILITY UNLESS THERE IS COUNCIL APPROVAL FOR
RENOVATION OF THE EXISTING HOUSE AS A
CONFERENCE/RETREAT CENTER PRIOR TO DECEMBER 31, 1992
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Hanson, Collova, Scalze.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Page 3
