MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
MAY 27, 1992
The Engineer described the street improvement pointing
out that the proposal is to reconstruct to MSA
standards. The street would be 32 feet wide with
concrete curb and gutter and would be constructed to
9-ton standards. The proposal includes 12 inches of
Class V materials under 4 1/2 inches of bituminous
cover. Soil borings have not been done.
The Engineer described the proposed storm sewer
improvement which he reported would be sized to
accommodate additional improvement to the north in the
Vanderbie area as well as address storm drainage in the
area of LaBore Road and Edgerton Street.
The Engineer reviewed the estimated project costs which
are outlined below:
LaBore Road Street Improvements $202,342
Edgerton Lateral Storm Sewer 24,075
Trunk Storm Sewer Improvements 58,184
Total Project Cost $284,601
The Engineer reported that there are four advantages
from extending the trunk storm sewer adjacent to
Edgerton Street from Gervais Mill Park to the
intersection of Edgerton and LaBore Road. Those are as
follows:
*Lake Gervais water quality is maintained by
discharging the storm water flows into ponds at
Gervais Mill Park prior to Lake Gervais.
*The future need for trunk storm sewer improvements
along Edgerton Street are eliminated.
*Overland storm water discharge through residential
backlots is minimized.
*Permanent easements for utility purposes will not be
required as the storm sewer would be placed within the
Edgerton Street right-of-way.
The Engineer then reviewed his recommendations and
conclusions as outlined on page 10 of the feasibility
report.
Hanson asked if there would be a striped bikepath along
the reconstructed roadway.
The City Engineer replied that he would have to
determine if MSA standards allow a striped shoulder on
a 32-foot wide roadway.
Page 8
