MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 10~ 1992
The Administrator informed the Council that three
quotations were received for landscaping at City Aall.
Margolis Bros. has submitted the low quote in the
amount of $14,810 for landscaping and irrigation of
City Hall property. The Administrator pointed out that
topsoil has been removed from the bid, and will be
purchased separately.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-6-192 - APPROVING THE LOW QUOTATION
SUBMITTED BY MARGOLIS BROS. IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,810
FOR LANDSCAPING AND IRRIGATION AT THE CITY CENTER
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (5) Blesener, Scalze, Collova, Hanson, LaValle.
Nays (O). Resolution declared adopted.
SUMMER HELP The City Administrator reviewed his memo dated June 5th
regarding summer help hiring. The Administrator noted
that 23 applications were received for the positions of
day camp aids. Of these applicants, 13 were hired, 6
of whom are Little Canada residents. The Administrator
noted that many of the non-residents which were hired
had worked in the day camp program previously when it
was directed by the school district.
The Administrator reported that 51 applications were
received for Public Works summer help, 22 of which were
from Little Canada residents. Seven applicants were
hired, all of which are Little Canada residents.
The City Administrator recommended that the Council
approve an increase in the top pay scale for temporary
help. That top scale is currently at $5.50, and the
Administrator recommended the scale be increased to $6
per hour. The top pay scale is reached after an
individual has worked at least three years. The
Administrator reported that the City's top scale is at
the low end compared with neighboring cities, and will
continue to be low even with the increase. The
Administrator felt the increase was necessary to
attract summer help to return, which will be a benefit
to the City in having experienced individuals in the
positions.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 92-6-193 - ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATIONS
OF BOTH THE PARKS & RECREATION AND PUBLIC WORKS
Page 5
