Previously it was required that these
monuments be placed prior to the recording of a plat,
and the County Surveyor's office has verified
placement. The Administrator reported that the County
Surveyor has indicated that most developers do not have
a problem with the placement of monuments prior to
recording. The County also indicated that if the City
is interested in having the County continue to verify
the placement of these monuments, that the Council pass
a resolution to this effect. The County is asking that
the City enter into an agreement to this effect. There
will be a cost involved for the service, however, it
will be passed on to developers.
The City Administrator recommended that the Council
authorize the County to continue providing this
service, pointing out that it would be difficult for
City staff to undertake this duty since staff is
limited. The Administrator also pointed out that
placement of plat monuments is an important function
that protects the public interest.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 92-6-194 - CLARIFYING THE CITY'S POLICY
ON PLACEMENT OF PLAT MONUMENTS AS RECOMMENDED BY THE
CITY ADMINISTRATOR
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Blesener, Hanson, Collova, Scalze.
Nays (0).
