MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 16, 1992
The City Administrator noted that specifications called
for capping of wells at each location, and he will
verify that the low quotes received include this work.
The Administrator noted that one of the bids did not
include seeding and topsoil, which was another
requirement of the specifications. The Administrator
noted that if specifications cannot be met, it may be
necessary to move to the next low bidder or to modify
work program.
Doris Klein, owner of the property at 2620 Rice Street,
reported that she had three bids for the removal of the
structure. One was from Bauer Bros. in the amount of
$4,800.00 dated June 11, 1992.
The City Administrator noted that the quotation
submitted to the City by Bauer Bros. on June 12, 1992
was in the amount of $7,400.00.
Doris Klein referred to a letter from the City
Attorney's office which she stated indicated that bids
for removal of her house would be submitted to her
attorney.
The City Attorney replied that once the quotations are
awarded, the quotation information will be submitted to
Mrs. Klein's attorney.
Klein questioned the submittal of this information to
her attorney after the quotation is awarded rather than
before. Klein expressed concern with the process being
followed.
Blesener noted that the City has attempted to work with
Mrs. Klein on the issue of removal of this house for
almost a year.
The City Attorney noted that Mrs. Klein failed to
respond to the notice she received within the required
20 days. The Attorney again stated that the City would
inform Mrs. Klein's attorney of the quotation
information tomorrow.
Klein disagreed that she failed to respond within 20
days. Klein questioned that the quotes the City has
are in compliance with specifications noting they do
not include well capping.
Page 2
