MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 24, 1992
allow The Market Place Shopping Center to construct a
second pylon sign.
Hanson pointed out that both the City Planner and
Planning Commission have recommended approval of the
variance.
Scalze felt that a second pylon would be a detriment to
the situation, and stated that she knows that the
25,000 square foot ceiling did limit The Market Place.
Stellick stated that a second pylon would not be very
functional, and would create a confusing situation.
There was no one present from the public hearing
wishing to comment on this matter.
Upon motion by Scalze, seconded by LaValle, the public
hearing was closed.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-6-206 - APPROVING A VARIANCE TO TxE
SIGN ORDINANCE TO ALLOW FOR AN ADDITIONAL
IDENTIFICATION SIGN ON TOP OF THE EXISTING PYLON FOR
THE MARKET PLACE SAOPPING CENTER BASED ON THE
RECOMMENDATION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION, SUBJECT TO
THE REQUIREMENT THAT ANY ADDITIONAL SIGNAGE FOR THE
MARKET PLACE SHOPPING CENTER REQUIRE PRIOR APPROVAL OF
THE CITY WITH CONSIDERATION TO BE GIVEN AT THAT TIME TO
BRINGING SIGNAGE INTO CONFORMANCE WITH ORDINANCE
REQUIREMENTS, AND SUBJECT TO THE RECOMMENDATIONS AS
CONTAINED IN THE CITY PLANNER'S REPORT DATED JUNE 4,
1992
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (4) Scalze, LaValle, Hanson, Collova.
Nays (O). The area would be used for
his hobby of restoration of antique engines, and Benson
indicated that the hobby is not a commercial venture.
Benson pointed out that he would have restricted
driveway access to the new garage area.
Page 3
