MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 22, 1992
TEMPORARY
ON-SALE
LTQUOR
LICENSE
additional night at the bingo hall made to a City
organization like the Little Canada Fire Department.
Blesener did not know how the City could prevent this
situation, noting that there is nothing in the City's
ordinance addressing it.
LaValle pointed out that as part of a premise permit
application, each organization submits a rotation
schedule showing the nights they will be operating at
the bingo hall. That schedule is a part of the
application package which the Council reviews and acts
upon. LaValle felt that a change in that schedule was
an amendment to the application, which would require
Council review and action.
The City Attorney suggested that he look into this
issue.
Scalze noted that the City has been notified of the
change with the North Suburban Youth Association.
Scalze felt that by not commenting on this change, the
City may be giving its approval. Scalze felt that the
City should have a larger share in how these things are
handled.
LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-7-244 - INSTRUCTING THE CITY ATTORNEY
TO DETERMINE WHAT THE CITY'S AUTHORITY IS IN THE
ALLOCATION OF NIGHTS AT THE LITTLE CANADA BINGO HALL
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Scalze, Hanson, Blesener.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Dick Boss, Little Canada Fire Department, reported that
the Fire Department and citizens of Little Canada
appreciated the Council's efforts over the past year in
the area of charitable qambling. Boss noted that
residents have benefited from the hard work that the
City and charitable organizations have put in in the
area of charitable gambling.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-7-245 - APPROVING A TEMPORARY ON-SALE
LIQUOR LICENSE FOR THE CANADIAN DAYS COMMITTEE FOR
AUGUST 8 AND 9, 1992 CONTINGENT UPON RECEIPT OF
SATISFACTORY SHERIFF'S REPORT AND CONTINGENT UPON
SUBMISSION OF LIQUOR LIABILITY INSURANCE COVERAGE
Page 16
