MINUTE5 <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 18, 1992 <br />he typically hires 6 to 8 individuals for rink <br />maintenance. <br />Blesener felt that the rink attendants had a lot of <br />responsibility in their positions, therefore, the <br />salary difference from rink maintenance personnel was <br />justified. <br />LaValle felt that the rink attendants should have some <br />basic first aid skills. <br />The Director reported that he would work towards that <br />goal. <br />The City Administrator reported that when advertising <br />for the rink attendant and rink maintenance positions, <br />salary scales were not included in the advertisement. <br />The Administrator recommended that the salary scale for <br />for rink maintenance personnel be brought in line with <br />that of seasonal public works personnel, pointing out <br />that the two scales are already very close. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92-11-412 - FREEZING THE SALARY SCALE <br />FOR RINK ATTENDANT AT ITS 1992 LEVEL, AND ADJUSTING THE <br />SALARY SCALE FOR RINK MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL TO BE IN <br />LINE WITH THE SCALE FOR SEASONAL PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEES <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Collova. <br />Ayes (4) Blesener, Collova, Hanson, LaValle. <br />Nays (1) Scalze. Resolution declared adopted. <br />The Director reported that in assuming his duties as <br />full-time Parks & Recreation Director, he has found <br />that it has not been possible to decrease the duties of <br />the two part-time Assistant Directors. The Director <br />indicated that some duties have been realigned to help <br />the entire program, but he has been putting in well <br />over 40 hours per week in his position. The Director <br />reported that based on this, he has reviewed the salary <br />increase proposed by the City Administrator for the two <br />Assistant Directors, and is comfortable with it. <br />LaValle asked how much time the Assistant Directors put <br />into their positions. <br />The Director replied that this varies from season to <br />season, and some weeks the Assistants can put in as <br />much as 25 hours per week.
