MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
NOVEMBER 18, 1992
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 92-11-415 - INSTRUCTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATOR TO ADD $500 TO PROJECTED 1993 BUDGET
REVENUES TO BE GENERATED FROM INCREASED FEES FOR
ICE-TIME COORDINATION
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Hanson, Collova, Blesener.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
Scalze asked about the Super Summer surplus.
The City Administrator pointed out that this surplus
effects the 1993 levy, but will not effect subsequent
years. Expenses will still be shown as full impact.
Scalze suggested that a committee be formed to study
the issue of usage of the City Center and lower level
of the old fire station by private groups. Scalze
noted that in the past the LCRA has donated $300 to the
Fire Department for usage of the lower level of the old
fire station. Scalze suggested that even at a fee of
$50 per time, these buildings could produce a revenue
base for the City. Scalze felt that these facilities
should be used by private qroups for a fee, and that
taxpayers should not have to fund the expense and
maintenance costs of these facilities for use by
private groups. Scalze suggested a revenue of $2,300
be budgeted for 1993 for use of these facilities.
Blesener did not believe this revenue should be
budgeted during 1993 until the City has some experience
in the area and can more accurately project the
revenue. Blesener felt that a policy on this issue
should be implemented in 1993 and revenues budgeted
beginning in 1994.
Scalze was not sure what the policy should be for use
of these facilities, but felt that if current usage of
the lower level of the old fire station continues,
there should be a fee of at least $50 per time to cover
maintenance costs. Scalze pointed out that the City
Center was recently used by a candidate for a cost of
$75. Scalze pointed out that there are two private
groups currently using the City Center, and felt that
those groups should be charged a minimum of $25 per
time for maintenance costs.
LaValle asked about senior citizen usage of the lower
level of the old fire station.
Page 18
