MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />NOVEMBER 18, 1992 <br />Scalze pointed out that the old fire station is a City <br />building which is maintained by the City. <br />Morelan suggested that any change in policy about use <br />of the lower level of the old fire station be discussed <br />with the Fire Department before a decision is made. <br />Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 92-11-416 - IMPLEMENTING A POLICY OF <br />CHARGING $50.00 PER USE OF THE LOWER LEVEL OF THE OLD <br />FIRE STATION AND $25.00 PER USE OF THE CITY CENTER FOR <br />NON-CITY GROUPS CURRENTLY USING THESE FACILITIES <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (3) Scalze, LaValle, Collova. <br />Nays (2) Hanson, Blesener. Resolution declared <br />adopted. <br />Hanson stated that he was not opposed to the intent of <br />the resolution, but wanted more information before such <br />a policy is established. <br />Scalze suggested that a committee beqin working on the <br />issue. Scalze asked if the City's liability changed by <br />renting a facility for a fee versus letting the <br />facility by used at no charge. <br />The City Attorney did not believe so, but suggested <br />that the City's insurance agent be asked to comment. <br />Scalze stated that she would be willing to work on the <br />committee to study the issue. Scalze pointed out that <br />the existing City facilities are as close to a <br />community center as Little Canada will get. Scalze <br />also pointed out that there may be Community <br />Development Block Grant funds available to bring the <br />old fire station up to code to meet ADA requirements. <br />Mr. Collova introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 92-11-417 - RECONSIDERING RESOLUTION N0. <br />92-11-416 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Blesener. <br />Ayes (3) Collova, Blesener, Hanson. <br />Nays (2) Scalze, LaValle, Resolution declared adopted. <br />Collova stated that he wanted to reconsider the <br />resolution since he made a mistake and wants to vote no <br />on it.
