MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 13, 1993 <br />~XEMPTION Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and <br />FROM LAWFUL moved its adoption: <br />GAMBLING <br />LICENSE RESOLUTION NO. 93-1-4 - APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR <br />ST. JOHN'S EXEMPTION FROM LAWFUL GAMBLING LICENSE FOR ST. JOHN'S <br />CHURCH MEN'S CLUB SNOW GO DINNER AT THE VENETIAN INN ON <br />FEBRUARY 13, 1993 AND WAIVING THE CITY'S 60-DAY REVIEW <br />PERIOD <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan. <br />Ayes (4) Scalze, Morelan, Pedersen, Hanson. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />EXEMPTION Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and <br />FROM LAWFUL moved its adoption: <br />GAMIILING <br />LICENSE RESOLUTION N0. 93-1-5 - APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR <br />DUCKS EXEMPTION FROM LAWFUL GAMBLING LICENSE FOR DUCKS <br />UNLIMITED UNLIMITED-ROSEVILLE CHAPTER FOR GOLD PLATE DINNER AT <br />THE VENETIAN INN ON APRIL 20, 1993 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen. <br />Ayes (4) Morelan, Pedersen, Hanson, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />1993 LEGAL The City has received quotations from both the <br />NEWSPAPER Roseville Press and the North Suburban Press for 1993 <br />DESIGNATION legal newspaper designation. <br />Jeff Enright, Circulation Manager of the Roseville <br />Review, appeared before the Council. Enright noted <br />that the price quoted by the Roseville Review for 1993 <br />services has remained constant and has not increased <br />from the 1991 and 1992 rates. Enright reported that <br />the Roseville Review has had a nice relationship with <br />the City of Little Canada. Enright reported that his <br />paper's penetration rate in Little Canada is 99.3%. <br />Enright also noted that he has worked with various <br />members of the City Council to improve the circulation <br />of his paper within the City to ensure that it reaches <br />all residents. Enright reported that the Roseville <br />Review looks forward to serving Little Canada again. <br />Gene Johnson, Publisher and Owner of the North Suburban <br />Press, appeared before the Council. Johnson reported <br />that 18 years ago his firm was encouraged to produce a <br />newspaper for Little Canada residents, which was done <br />and then service also expanded to Vadnais Heights and <br />Shoreview residents as well. Johnson reported that the <br />North Suburban Press is now proposing to provide a <br />separate paper for each of these communities by March <br />1st. <br />Page 5 <br />
