MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 27, 1993
Scalze felt the committee should have a broader base,
pointinq out that the recommended committee members are
all City staff and the Fire Department, which is a
private non-profit group.
LaValle pointed out that the charities have been
informed that even though the capital improvement list
will be prioritized, if there is a particular item that
a charity would like to fund, that could be done
without regard to the ranking of that item within the
list.
Pedersen asked the length of the process for ranking
the listing.
LaValle felt it the ranking could be accomplished in
one workshop meeting. LaValle again indicated that he
would like to see 2 or 3 private citizens on the
committee. LaValle requested the press to place an
article in their newspapers informing the general
public that the City is seeking individuals who would
be willing to service on this committee.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 93-1-26 - INSTRUCTING THE CITY
ADMINISTRATOR TO SEND A LETTER TO OTHER PRIVATE
NON-PROFIT GROUPS, 5UCH AS CANADIAN DAYS, HISTORICAL
SOCIETY, LCRA, COMMUNITY PRIDE GROUP, SHERIFF'S
DEPARTMENT, ASKING THEM TO SERVE ON A COMMITTEE TO
PRIORITIZE THE CITY'S 10% CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT LISTING
AS WELL AS INSTRUCTING STAFF TO SEEK INVOLVEMENT BY
PRIVATE CITIZENS ON THE COMMITTEE, AND INDICATING THAT
TWO COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL SIT ON THAT COMMITTEE AS WELL
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan.
Ayes (5) 5calze, Morelan, Hanson, Pedersen, LaValle.
Nays (0).
