MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 24, 1993
The Park & Recreation Director reported that there are
none presently, but he was working on a couple of
applications that would be presented shortly.
Matson reported that the NSYA also offers four
scholarships each year for students in School Districts
#621 and #623. The scholarships are for $3,000 each
and are paid out over four years. This is the third
year of the scholarship program, and Matson hoped that
some Little Canada students would make application.
The availability of these scholarships is advertised
through the School Districts.
LaValle suggested that next year the City include
information on the scholarship program in the Winter
newsletter. LaValle also felt that the City should be
approaching NSYA monthly with program funding requests.
Matson reported that NSYA has had good representation
from Little Canada in its membership. NSYA presently
has 15 members, 3 of which are from Little Canada. An
additional member will be added in the next month.
Scalze pointed out that when the three Little Canada
members were appointed to NSYA, the Association's total
membership was seven.
Matson replied that State Statute requires a membership
minimum of 15. Matson invited the Council to attend
NSYA's meetings to see how they are conducted.
Portions of the meetings when specific funding requests
are being considered are closed to the public, however,
Matson sugqested that the Council let him know in
advance when they would be attending and he would
structure the meeting so there is no conflict with
grant applications. NSYA meets the second to the last
Tuesday of each month.
The Administrative Assistant reported that everything
was in order with regard to NSYA's annual review, and
it was the consensus of the Council that the review was
a satisfactory one.
VOUCHERS Morelan introduced the following resolution and moved
its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 93-2-47 - APPROVING THE VOUCHERS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (4) Morelan, LaValle, Pedersen, Scalze.
Nays (0).
