MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
FEBRUARY 24, 1993
he and the Public Works Superintendent support this
recommendation.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 93-2-51 - AUTHORIZING THE REDUCTION IN
THE JACKSON HEIGHTS LETTER OF CREDIT AMOUNT FROM
$296,000 TO $110,000 BASED ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF
CITY STAFF
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Pedersen, Scalze, Morelan.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
WATER The City Administrator reported that the St. Paul Board
CONSERVATION of Water Commissioners would like to utilize a couple
PROGRAM of apartment buildings within the City to demonstrate a
water conservation program. The Administrator
requested Council authorization to work with the Water
Board on this project.
Scalze asked if a decrease in gallons consumed would
have a negative effect on the City's water usage
resulting in an increase in the water rate charged by
St. Paul.
The Administrator pointed out that the City did receive
a 19% increase in water rates from the City of St. Paul
this year. Part of the reason for this increase was
that revenues have not increased. The Administrator
agreed that in the long run a water conservation
program could impact the City's water rates, however,
the impact of this program will be limited given its
limited scope. The issue comes down to a choice of
conserving resources or saving money.
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 93-2-52 - AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO WORK
WITH THE ST. PAUL WATER BOARD ON THEIR PROPOSED WATER
CONSERVATION PROGRAM
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen.
Ayes (4) LaValle, Pedersen, Scalze, Morelan.
Nays (Oj.
