Resolution declared adopted. <br />PIONEER Bill Sanders, Park Consultant, appeared before the <br />PARK Council to review the Park and Recreation Commission's <br />PARKING recommendation for location of expanded parking <br />facilities for Pioneer Park. Sanders reported that <br />there are currently a total of 125 parking spaces at <br />Pioneer Park, 92 of which are located on the <br />Centerville Road side of the park and 33 located on the <br />DeSoto Street side. <br />Sanders reported that the last time this issue was <br />presented to the Council, the Council requested <br />additional cost information for expanding the parking <br />on the Centerville Road side. Sanders reported that to <br />add 34 parking spaces on the Centerville Road side of <br />the park via expansion of the existing parking lot to <br />the north, plus an additional access drive to <br />Centerville Road and correction of some drainage <br />problems, the estimated cost would be $44,000. This <br />price includes a 15% contingency. <br />Sanders reported that the Park Commission has discussed <br />this issue and reaffirms its earlier recommendation <br />that the additional parking spaces for Pioneer Park be <br />placed on the DeSoto Street side of the park via <br />expansion of the existing parking lot to the west. The <br />cost of adding 33 parking spaces on the DeSoto Street <br />side would be $19,487, which is an actual bid amount. <br />Scalze noted that some of the issues to consider are <br />placement of the additional parking, available funding <br />and development priorities, if parking is not added <br />programming of Pioneer Park may have to be decreased, <br />and the demand that has been shown for improvement of <br />the Westwind trail. <br />Page 6 <br />
