MINUTES CITY COUNCIL MARCH 10, 1993 23, 1993 AS REQUESTED BY STELLA DEL NORD, HOWEVER, APPROVAL DOES NOT INCLUDE THE SALE OF PULL-TABS, WITH THE STELLA DEL NORD GROUP ADVISED TO WORK OUT THE ISSUE OF PULL-TAB SALES WITH THE HOLDER OF THE EXISTING CLASS A LICENSE AT TAE VENETIAN INN The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by 5calze. Ayes (5) LaValle, Scalze, Hanson, Pedersen, Morelan. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. CONSENT Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and AGENDA moved its adoption: RESOLUTION NO. 93-3-56 - APPROVING THE CONSENT AGENDA WAICH INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING ITEMS: APPROVAL OF THE VOUCHERS; CALLING FOR AN ASSESSMENT POLICY WORKSHOP TO BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 1993 AT 6 P.M. IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS OF THE CITY CENTER The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Morelan. Ayes (5) Scalze, Morelan, Hanson, Pedersen, LaValle. Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. RECESS At this point in the meeting, 8:55 P.M., Council took a short recess. The meeting was reconvened at 9:00 P.M. FALSE ALARM The City Attorney presented a proposed revision to the ORDINANCE City's False Alarm Ordinance which changes the require- & ORDINANCE ment for sending false alarm notices from certified APPEAL mail to regular mail. The amendment also changes the time required for payment of false alarm fines from 10 days to 15 days. Morelan asked if the Council wanted to continue the requirement that the City send notices of every false alarm. The City Administrator replied that the issue is making the owner aware of false alarms so that the problem can be corrected. The Administrator pointed out that the City does not begin billing until the fourth false alarm has occurred. The Administrator reported that typically false alarms are due to a lack of maintenance on the alarm system. False alarms require a response from the Sheriff's Department and/or the Fire Department, thus tying up these services needlessly. Page 9
