Resolution declared adopted.
RECESS At this point in the meeting, 8:55 P.M., Council took a
short recess. The meeting was reconvened at 9:00 P.M.
FALSE ALARM The City Attorney presented a proposed revision to the
ORDINANCE City's False Alarm Ordinance which changes the require-
& ORDINANCE ment for sending false alarm notices from certified
APPEAL mail to regular mail. The amendment also changes the
time required for payment of false alarm fines from 10
days to 15 days.
Morelan asked if the Council wanted to continue the
requirement that the City send notices of every false
alarm.
The City Administrator replied that the issue is making
the owner aware of false alarms so that the problem can
be corrected. The Administrator pointed out that the
City does not begin billing until the fourth false
alarm has occurred. The Administrator reported that
typically false alarms are due to a lack of maintenance
on the alarm system. False alarms require a response
from the Sheriff's Department and/or the Fire
Department, thus tying up these services needlessly.
Page 9
