MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL/PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION
MARCA 10, 1993
slow down. Wehrle pointed out, however, that the City
has gotten a good start on its neighborhood and
community parks. Parks have been developed to the
point where they can be used, although they are not
necessarily fully developed.
Scalze asked the status of Gervais Mill Park.
Wehrle reported that the Park Consultant has indicated
that as part of the Watershed project, the park will be
left at a point that it will not erode. Wehrle pointed
out that Gervais Mill Park is a nice natural area, and
even just the development of paths through the park
will bring a lot of usage.
The City Administrator reported that the Watershed held
a pre-construction meeting today for their project.
The Watershed has now obtained the necessary permits
and it is anticipated that construction will begin in
two to four weeks. Construction is anticipated to
continue over the summer and into the fall.
Wehrle asked if the Public Works Superintendent will
oversee the project for the City.
The Administrator replied that Public Works, the Park &
Recreation Director, Park Consultant as well as he
would oversee the project to protect the City~s
interests. The Administrator reported that the project
may have some impact on the City's Edgerton water main
improvement project as well.
Hanson asked about the Spooner Park shelter roof
replacement item included on the 1993 expenditure
listing. Hanson thought the $12,000 budgeted under
this item seemed high.
Wehrle agreed that the $12,000 may be on the high side
and pointed out that the figure is only based on
estimates. Wehrle reported that the Commission felt
roof replacement was important to protect the
substructure from deterioration. Wehrle also pointed
out that the Lions Club donated the funding for the
original construction of the shelter, and the
Commission is planning to approach that group to
determine if they are interested in funding the roof
replacement.
Page 2
