MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />APRIL 14, 1993 <br />PUBLIC WORKS The City Administrator reviewed the April 9th letter <br />EMPLOYEE submitted by the Public Works Superintendent <br />recommending that Michael Kriz be hired to fill the <br />vacancy in the Public Works Department created by Pat <br />Dunn's resignation. Starting salary would be $8.50 per <br />hour. Mr. Kriz has worked in temporary public works <br />positions for other cities and has experience to offer <br />the position. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-4-90 - ACCEPTING THE RECOMMENDATION <br />OF THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT AND HIRING MICHAEL <br />KRIZ AS PUBLIC WORKS EMPLOYEE AT A STARTING SALARY OF <br />$8.50 PER HOUR SUBJECT TO A SATISFACTORY PHYSICAL <br />EXAMINATION AND SUBJECT TO A SIX-MONTH PROBATIONARY <br />PERIOD <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Pedersen, Hanson, Scalze, Morelan. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />STREET The City Administrator reviewed the April 9th letter <br />SWEEPING of the Public Works Superintendent recommending that <br />QUOTATIONS the low bid of $56.00 per hour submitted by McPhillips <br />for street sweeping be awarded. Also, if determined <br />necessary, an additional $4.00 per hour be approved for <br />the hauling away of sweeping debris. The Administrator <br />reported that the Public Works Superintendent is <br />researching the possibility of recycling the sweeping <br />materials, which would result in a cost savings to the <br />City. It is anticipated that sweeping would begin <br />about May lst. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 93-4-91 - APPROVING THE LOW QUOTATION OF <br />MCPHILLIPS SWEEPING AT $56.00 PER HOUR FOR SWEEPING <br />CITY STREETS DURING 1993, AS WELL AS AN ADDITIONAL <br />$4.00 PER HOUR FOR HAULING AWAY OF SWEEPING MATERIALS, <br />TF NECESSARY, AND DIRECTING THE SUPERINTENDENT TO <br />RESEARCH THE OPTION OF RECYCLING AND REUSE OF THE <br />SWEEPINGS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Pedersen. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Pedersen, Hanson, Scalze, Morelan. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />PRESBYTERIAN Hanson reported that Presbyterian Homes has indicated <br />HOMES that 90 of the 93 units at The Mayfield have been <br />Page 18 <br />
