MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
APRIL 14, 1993
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA AND ST.
JOHN'S CHURCH
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Hanson, Pedersen, Morelan.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
RELEAF The City Administrator reported that as part of the
PROGRAM City's Releaf Tree Planting Program, bare root stock
will be delivered to those residents who ordered trees
on Saturday, April 17th, and balled and burlapped stock
will be delivered on Saturday, April 24th. The
Administrator reported that the stock the City received
was excellent. The City decided to deliver the stock
rather than have residents pick it up at the City
garage due to the size of the stock and concern about
filling orders efficiently should a number of residents
arrive at the City garage at the same time.
The Administrator reported that there is some stock
still available. Anyone interested should contact the
City Hall as soon as possible to place an order. Any
trees not sold to residents will be planted on public
property within the City.
Hanson reported that he received a call from Richard
Swanson, owner of Green Value Nursery in Vadnais
Heights. Mr. Swanson expressed concern about citizens
being able to purchase trees at a reduced cost through
a grant program sponsored by the DNR. Swanson was
concerned that this program was hurting his business.
Hanson reported that he would stop by with the
information on the program and discuss it further with
Swanson.
PIERCE Hanson reported that he received a call from Don Pierce
PROPERTY ON regarding his mother's property on County Road C. Mr.
COUNTY Pierce's mother has passed away, and Mr. Pierce would
ROAD C like to pass the property on to his children. As the
Council will recall, the property abutting Rosewood
Drive was rezoned to Residential. Should the Pierce
property be divided, there is an existing garage on the
property that would straddle the lot line. Mr. Pierce
would like a variance or some consideration since he
feels the City created a hardship in rezoning the
property and requiring that future property divisions
comply with a specified lot line location. Hanson
requested that the Council contact Mr. Pierce to
discuss the matter and take a look at the property.
Scalze suggested that staff prepare a map showing the
Page 20
