MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 8, 1993
RESOLUTION NO. 93-6-173 - SETTING A SUMMER WATER RATE
OF $1.77 PER THOUSAND GALLONS, AND INCREASING THE
CITY'S WATER AVAILABILITY CHARGE FROM $12.00 PER
QUARTER TO $13.32 PER QUARTER PER SAC UNIT EFFECTIVE
IMMEDIATELY
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Morelan, Scalze, LaValle, Hanson, Pedersen.
U5E OF The City Administrator reported that he and the Parks
CAPITOL and Recreation Director have met with representatives
VIEW POOL of School District 916 and the Roseville School
District to discuss the use of the pool at Capitol
View. There is some interest from District 916 in
re-opening the pool, however, the Roseville School
District indicated that there is no need for the pool
for their aquatics program. The Administrator reported
that there is the potential for the use of Capitol View
as a"community center" for the City to consider. The
Administrator also indicated that the comment was made
at the meeting that a decision should be made on the
issue of the pool, and if it is decided that there is
no need for the pool, the space will be converted into
something more usable.
The Administrator suggested that perhaps the matter
should be reviewed by the City's Parks and Recreation
Commission. The Administrator also commented that he
and the Parks and Recreation Director will stay
involved in the matter.
The Council agreed that the Parks and Recreation
Commission should review and comment on this matter.
There was also some discussion by the Council of the
success of the Roseville School District swimming
lessons, and the very high demand for these lessons.
Morelan commented that the lessons are somewhat
expensive, and suggested that the should the City
decide to start a swimming lesson program, perhaps the
Recreation Association would continue their policy of
buying down the cost of such lessons to the City's
residents.
Scalze was concerned that should the Roseville School
District say the pool is no~c needed, and the City
participates in the cost of renovating the pool, the
City would be takinq the financial burden off the
School District.
The Administrator suggested that should the City
proceed with a community survey, the issue of swimming
lessons could be addressed.
Page 19
