MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 14~ 1993
also felt that if the ultimate decision is that qroups
such as TOPS and the Snowmobile Club should move to the
old fire station site, than the bridge club should move
there as well.
The City Administrator suggested that perhaps the
Council should make a decision on this issue now, and
if there is any inclination to change, that be decided
now before people get to accustomed to using City
Center space.
LaValle suggested that the request be tabled at this
point until the City Administrator and Parks and
Recreation Director can meet with Johanna Meath to
discuss the use of the old fire station in more detail.
Morelan pointed out that the letter from Johanna Meath
implied that the City will purchase tables for use by
the bridge club.
LaValle asked if The Mayfield were available for this
type of use.
Morelan asked why the lower level of the old fire
station was not acceptable.
The City Administrator suggested that he set up a
meeting with Johanna Meath to discuss the issues raised
by the Council in more detail and to talk about the
renovation of the old fire station space on the front
end. It was suggested that this matter be rescheduled
for the July 28th Council meeting.
Scalze pointed out that the old fire station committee
has had one meeting and discussed lower level
renovations to the station, but has not gotten into the
issue of use of the facility. Scalze pointed out that
it is necessary that the station be brought up to life
safety code before other groups are allowed to use the
facility. There is the handicapped accessibility issue
at the building that needs to be addressed as well.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 93-7-218 - TABLING ACTION ON THE REQUEST
FOR USE OF CITY CENTER BY BRIDGE CLUB UNTIL THE JULY
28, 1993 CITY COUNCIL MEETING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Scalze, LaValle, Hanson, Morelan, Pedersen.
Nays (0).
