MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JULY 14, 1993 <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 93-7-220 - AWARDING THE BID OF ALLIED <br />BLACKTOP AT $.349 PER SQUARE YARD FOR 1993 SEALCOATING <br />WORK <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) LaValle, Soalze, Hanson, Morelan, Pedersen. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />MOWER The City Administrator reviewed the recommendation of <br />PURCAASE the Public Works Superintendent to purchase a new <br />mower. The existing mower is 10-years old and in <br />increasing need of repairs and, if replaced, would be <br />kept as a back-up mower. Quotations were received, and <br />the low quote was submitted by North Star Turf, Inc. <br />for a Jacobson Turf Cat 4-wheel drive mower in the <br />amount of $13,546.80. Funding for this purchase would <br />come from the General Capital Improvement Fund. <br />Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 93-7-221 - AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A <br />JACOBSON TURF CAT 4-WHEEL DRIVE MOWER FROM NORTH STAR <br />TURF IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,546.80 BASED ON THE <br />RECOMMENDATION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Morelan, LaValle, Hanson, Pedersen, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />RECREATION Morelan pointed out the survey done by the Parks and <br />ADMINISTRATION Recreation Director showing that the City of <br />FEE Maplewood does not charge a recreation administration <br />fee. The survey also showed that Roseville does <br />charge such a fee but it is used to cover building <br />costs and not to supplement salaries. Morelan <br />recommended that the City's recreation administration <br />fee of $1.50 per registrant be abolished. <br />Pedersen asked how the City's program fees compare to <br />those of other cities. <br />Morelan reported that the fees are higher in all <br />instances except one. <br />Scalze indicated that some fees are higher while others <br />are lower. <br />Page 16 <br />
