MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
JULY 14, 1993
Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION NO. 93-7-220 - AWARDING THE BID OF ALLIED
BLACKTOP AT $.349 PER SQUARE YARD FOR 1993 SEALCOATING
WORK
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Scalze.
Ayes (5) LaValle, Soalze, Hanson, Morelan, Pedersen.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
MOWER The City Administrator reviewed the recommendation of
PURCAASE the Public Works Superintendent to purchase a new
mower. The existing mower is 10-years old and in
increasing need of repairs and, if replaced, would be
kept as a back-up mower. Quotations were received, and
the low quote was submitted by North Star Turf, Inc.
for a Jacobson Turf Cat 4-wheel drive mower in the
amount of $13,546.80. Funding for this purchase would
come from the General Capital Improvement Fund.
Mr. Morelan introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 93-7-221 - AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A
JACOBSON TURF CAT 4-WHEEL DRIVE MOWER FROM NORTH STAR
TURF IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,546.80 BASED ON THE
RECOMMENDATION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by LaValle.
Ayes (5) Morelan, LaValle, Hanson, Pedersen, Scalze.
Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted.
RECREATION Morelan pointed out the survey done by the Parks and
ADMINISTRATION Recreation Director showing that the City of
FEE Maplewood does not charge a recreation administration
fee. The survey also showed that Roseville does
charge such a fee but it is used to cover building
costs and not to supplement salaries. Morelan
recommended that the City's recreation administration
fee of $1.50 per registrant be abolished.
Pedersen asked how the City's program fees compare to
those of other cities.
Morelan reported that the fees are higher in all
instances except one.
Scalze indicated that some fees are higher while others
are lower.
Page 16
